Policeman/Constable-Eligibility, Exam & Salary

Policeman/Constable is a security agent that assists in the preservation of law and order in the society.

Policeman/Constable selection in India is different in different states. The qualification variance can be observed in certain areas in terms of educational qualifications, physical measurements and other selection requirements of it. The selection procedure of Constable given below is based on the rules and regulations of Haryana State.

Note: Constable Recruitment on the selection of all the states is periodically changed according to the prevailing circumstances in that state.

Policeman/Constable Eligibility

The education qualification required of a candidate to be eligible to be selected as constable shall be 12 th class in all categories.

Other Eligibility Criteria-

Age Limit: Minimum age of the candidates should not be less than 18 years and maximum age should not be more than 25 years. The age relaxation will be applicable according to the rules.

Character Certificate: The candidates must submit a certificate of character issued by the Principal Academic Officer of the University, College, School or Institution they attended last.

Application Fee: The candidates will be required to pay online fee of Rs.100/-(male) and 50/-(female) in any branch of State Bank of Patiala.

Selection Process: The successful candidates would be chosen on the basis of their performance in Physical Measurement, Physical Efficiency test and interview.

Application: Eligible candidates may make applications online as well as containing application fees on or before the last date at the site www.hprbonline.com or www.hprbonline.in and obtain registration No and ID No in future reference of application and re-printing the online filled application form and e-challan form.

Physical Standard:

Male Constables:-

(i) Height-Minimum 5'-7"

(ii) Chest-Un-expanded - 33" or less (Expanded - 34 1/2 or less )

(Minimum growth of 1 and 1/2 inch) (Note - Relaxation in Physical Standard to the degree of one inch in height and one inch in the chest will be permitted to the candidates under Scheduled caste and backwards Class as per the Rules.

For Female Constables-

Height- Minimum 5'-2"

It is noted here that (Relaxation in Physical Standard to the extent of one inch in height will be available to candidates under Scheduled caste and backwards Class category as per the Rules.

Reservation:

The dependency of Ex.-Servicemen reservation is subject to the instructions by the Haryana Govt. that are issued periodically. The daughters of the dependants of ESM who meet all the qualification conditions required in posts like age etc. will be included in the merit of the posts that is reserved to ESM to the extent that there are no suitable ESM candidates. They must compete under similar categories as General, SC, BC.

DESM candidates of Haryana who want to receive the advantage of reservation will be required to bring the new eligibility certificate issued by the respective Zila Sainik Board during the interviewing process. Dependent certificate will not be heard of.

The reservation will only be provided to that SC/BC/SBC/EBP (GC) /DESM who domicile in Haryana State. The candidates of the SC/BC/SBC/EBP (GC)/DESM have to place the original certificate duly issued by the competent authority during the interview.

How to Apply:

It is possible to submit the application online only with application fees of a specific category of post as needed.

Government workers can do so as long as they meet all the necessary requirements and make application through appropriate medium.

Last Date: Online application will be filled according to date fixed and then the link will be deactivated. The candidates are strongly recommended to apply online early enough without waiting to the last day of submitting online application. The office will not accept any offline applications form.

Application Fee: The General Category applicants and the independent daughters of ESM must pay the application fee of Rs. 100/- in the shape of Haryana Government Treasury under the head 0051-Public Service Commission-NA-104-UPSC/SSC Examination Fees -99-Fees from application to the Haryana Police Recruitment Board. At the online application, the candidates must insert the treasury challengan number and date of the fees at the respective Column ESM The candidates are exempted to pay application fees.

No concession of fee admissible to SC/BC of other States.

General Regulations on Eligibility

  • An applicant opposing any criminal action registered against him and who are in the course of investigation or trial or have been found guilty by a Court of Law need not apply.
  • The individual shorter in stature and size of chest and with physical deficiency do not need to apply.
  • It will be based on aggregate marks of the candidate in PET and Interview to draw up merit list.
  • The candidates will be selected finally according to the merit of each category. (e) The applicants will be required to present themselves at their own cost during the selection process. No TA/DA will be admissible. They are also expected to make their own provision of stay during the selection.
  • The candidate will be appearing to the PET at his/her own peril. The Govt. will not be liable in any loss or damage that may occur in the test.
  • The Haryana Police Recruitment Board may also make changes and form other District Level Police Recruitment Committees to hold Physical Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test or cancel or defer the recruitment on the ground of administration or on other ground of national interest.
  • Applicants who campaign in any manner will be eliminated in taking the test or even in final selection.

General Regulations Concerning Eligibility

  • An applicant who is opposed by a criminal case registered and is under investigation or is awaiting trial or has already been convicted by a Court of Law is not required to apply.
  • The individual of lesser height and chest size and having any physical deficiency should not apply.
  • The aggregate marks acquired by the candidate in PET and Interview will be used to draw merit list.
  • The final selection of the candidates will be done according to the merit of each category. (e) The candidates will be required to be present in the selection at their cost. No TA/DA will be admissible. Their own stay warrants making of their own means during the selection as well.
  • The candidate will be appearing on his own to the PET. Govt. will not be liable to any loss or injury incurred in the course of the test.
  • Haryana Police Recruitment Board may make amendments and may form more District Level Police Recruitment Committee to conduct Physical Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test or may cancel or delay the recruitment at administrative discretion or at the interest of people.
  • Any form of canvassing by the candidates will disqualify them to appear in the test, or to be finally selected.

General Rules As to Rejection of Application Form

A summary rejection will occur on the following events to an application form:

  • In the case a candidate applies more than once to the specific category.
  • In case the application is not in the requisite format
  • In case application is incomplete/un-signed.
  • In case of failure to deposit full fee in the form required or evidence thereof is not enclosed with the application form.
  • In case a candidate lacks the required academic qualification.

Skills required of Policeman/Constable

  • The policemen should possess good communicational abilities like tact and diplomacy, community orientation, personal responsibility, integrity and strength.
  • They also have problem solving skills; are confident and calm in nature; well literate in order to capture information accurately.
  • There are also the respect of diversity, team-working skills, and the ability to work alone; professionalism, honesty, and trustworthiness among the constables.
  • They also needed a good judgement and a proper respect of confidentiality; capacity to work resolutely, tolerantly and restraintly.
  • They should be physically healthy and fit since they are obliged to mostly be in contact with the people.

The way to become Policeman/Constable?

To become a Policeman/Constable- one has to follow below-given steps.

Step 1 : The students who volunteer to work in Police Force as Constable must be physically fit and healthy since they must keep the masses and other social issues under control.

Step 2 Selection Procedure: The selection will be done as per the provisions in Punjab Police Rules. Upon careful examination of application forms, competent candidates will be notified online about the location, date, and time of their Physical Measurement:-

(a) Physical Measurement: Applications will be screened on height and chest measures whereby candidates who are found to have passed the screening process of the applications will be screened. The only candidates will be permitted to take part in Physical Efficiency Test whose measurements fit the required standards.

(b) Physical Efficiency Test: The successful candidates who are selected based on physical measurement shall take Physical Efficiency Test (PET) of a total of 20 marks. The Following capacities shall be tested by the Rules on candidates.

(c) Interview:

  • The successful candidates in the post of Male Constable who will have the qualifying marks in Physical Efficiency Test (PET) will be called to interview and have the qualifying marks in Female Constable will be called to interview respectively 15 and 12 marks.
  • Preparation: You will be assigned the topic of earthquake and its related impacts on individuals (children). You will be given 15 minutes to compose your essay; you will be asked to bring a sample of a piece of writing that demonstrates your clarity and understanding of the material you have read.<|human|>Preparation: You will be given the following topic to write on: earthquake and its associated effects on people (children) and you are given 15 minutes to write your essay, you will be expected to bring a sample of an item of writing to show clarity and understanding of what you have
  • The test is in form of an objective type question on G.K. and Current affairs. The aspirants must possess deep understanding of the daily operations of the world that encompass everything to pass the test. The test should also have questions on English language and numerical aptitude. The aspirants are able to access specialized books and past question papers in order to prepare the test. They can feel better about taking the test by referring and calculating sample papers. They are able to self assess on their papers which they solve in order to know their weak areas.

Police officer/constable job description
