By 1913 the population was 14,000, basically Russians. Bishkek is laid out on a lattice with wide tree-lined boulevards. It has parks and numerous plantations, and for all time snow-capped mountains are obvious to the south. Other than the different government buildings, there are theatres, the nearby Foundation of Sciences (established 1954), the Kyrgyz State College (1951), and rural, medical , polytechnic, and teacher-training institutes. International Medical University is located in Bishkek , the capital city of Kyrgyzstan. IMU is a private medical institution and it was established in 2003.
